How this works

Mess bills are typically paid by one person and split later. Equal split is unfair when some members travel, intern off-campus, or skip meals during placements. This calculator uses the formula:

share = total_bill × (your_meals / sum_of_all_meals)
  1. Enter the total mess bill (cook + ration + cylinder).
  2. Track lunches and dinners eaten per person across the month.
  3. Optionally include breakfast (typically weighted at 0.5 of a main meal).
  4. Each member pays their attendance-weighted share — fairness without arguments.
